Use Mnem with Zed

Zed's Agent Panel, with memory: recall project context and personal preferences without re-explaining yourself.

What you get

  • Memory tools available to Zed's agent in the Agent Panel
  • Shared context with every other connected app
  • Optional auto-capture of agent exchanges — opt-in

Connect

One-click setup from the Connections panel.

  1. Open Connections

    Click the Mnem menu-bar icon and open the Connections panel.

  2. Connect Zed

    Click Connect. Mnem adds a context-server entry to your Zed settings.

  3. Restart Zed

    Relaunch Zed so the new context server is picked up.

  4. Verify

    Open the Agent Panel and confirm the mnem tools are available to the assistant.

Troubleshooting

Zed calls MCP servers “context servers” — if you configure manually, the entry lives under the context_servers key in settings.json. Make sure you're on a recent Zed release; older builds had different MCP support.
