Use Mnem with ChatGPT Desktop
Keep ChatGPT in the loop: opt-in capture brings your ChatGPT Desktop conversations into the one memory every other tool shares.
What you get
- Opt-in capture of your ChatGPT Desktop exchanges into local memory
- Everything captured stays on your Mac — capture is local processing, not upload
- Other connected apps can recall what you discussed with ChatGPT
Connect
Manual setup — a pasted snippet and about a minute.
-
Open Connections
Click the Mnem menu-bar icon and open the Connections panel.
-
Enable capture for ChatGPT Desktop
Capture is off by default. Flip it on and choose a capture mode (full exchanges or summaries).
-
Grant the macOS permission
macOS will prompt for the permission Mnem needs to observe the ChatGPT window. Processing happens entirely on your machine.
-
Optional: in-chat recall
If your ChatGPT plan supports custom MCP connectors (developer mode), add Mnem using the snippet from the Connections panel to get recall inside ChatGPT too.
Troubleshooting
Nothing is captured until you enable it — if memories aren't appearing, check that capture is on and the macOS permission was granted (System Settings → Privacy & Security). In-chat MCP recall depends on your ChatGPT plan's connector support, which varies.
